Designing a Simple Inventory Management Application for small businesses

1. Design Brief:I started the project with the design brief meeting where I discussed with the client his goals, target users and requirements.
2. Competitive analysis:Together with my client, we reviewed existing platforms to better understand and draw use cases.
Findings
1.Most applications weren't primarily for inventory management. Most were for accounting with an added functionality of inventory management which mostly wasn't quite thorough.2. Most were designed for large scale businesses making them an overkill for small scale ventures.

1. Create a platform where small scale business owners can keep track of their business.
2. The platform should be very simple to use
3. The plartform should give detailed but clear information to users about their businesses

1. A dashboard to show users summary of business activities.
2. Simple Ui to allow easy of use.
4. Prominent call to action features that help users efficiently use the platform
3. Modern illustrations to better help users easily identify with the platform

1. Diverse User Needs
Understanding the diverse needs of small-scale business owners was a complex task, given the variability in business types and operations.
2. Balancing Simplicity and Functionality
Striking the right balance between a user-friendly interface and comprehensive inventory management functionality presented a significant challenge.
Important Takeaways
This experience underscored the importance of adopting a structured and comprehensive approach in design projects. A steadfast commitment to user research not only streamlines the workflow but also elevates the final product's appeal. It reinforced the significance of thorough research and a well-defined scope as fundamental pillars of successful design endeavors.
